about

Grant and Mikel started recording "H.A.G.S." in the summer of 2012. It contains all the loves, fears, hates, needs, desires, dreams, complexities, roadblocks, highs, lows, murky middles, and discoveries that go along with being a person in the early 21st century. Or, at least, it attempts to capture it all. We're not quite sure where it lands.

Part celebratory synthpop, part contemplative instrumental hip-hop, "H.A.G.S." is ultimately about how friendship is the great equalizer in our fucked up, horrible world.

Tell them you love them. Hold their hand. Make eye contact. Summer is here, then it's gone. You'll wish you had.

This is a Yeeeaaah Boi! Records Production.

Track Name: H.A.G.S.
June bugs
Your eyes
Long days
Short nights
Stay here
Let's grow old
'Cause those kids
They don't know
New years
False starts
No fear
In young hearts
The wind
In your hair
The sun sets
I don't care

True love won't last forever
Let's make this summer remember

Soft kiss
Warm night
I promise
It's all right
I'm so sure
Of our fate
The future
It can't wait
You're the sea
You're the sun
You're my dream
You're the one
I'm outside
And it's dawn
So let's drive
The car's on

True love won't last forever
Let's make this summer remember

I hear
Your call
I trip
I fall
Because you're all
That I know
If you're here
I won't go
I see you
Wake Up
Because your smile
Is enough
Let's rule
This town
If you're in
Then I'm down
Track Name: Lex Vegas
These days
I sleep at home
Most nights
The moon is gone
For one year
I felt you there
We had time
You had time
You had it all from me

In the summer (in the summer)
When I loved her (when I loved her)
Before it was over (it was over)
Before it began

In the suburbs (In the backyard stealing)
When I loved her (your hands I'm feeling)
Before it was over (I'm back, I'm reeling)
Before it began

So keep the lights on
I'll be your heartthrob
When every night's long
Over and over again
I'll make your heart stop
Out on your front lawn
Playing the best song
Over and over again

With one week
I felt you there
With one day
You got your torch to bear
I know that it's not enough
So keep the lights on
I'll be your heartthrob

In the summer (in the summer)
When I loved her (when I loved her)
Before it was over (it was over)
Before it began

In the suburbs (In the backyard stealing)
When I loved her (your hands I'm feeling)
Before it was over (I'm back, I'm reeling)
Before it began

So keep the lights on
I'll be your heartthrob
When every night's long
Over and over again
I'll make your heart stop
Out on your front lawn
Playing the best song
Over and over again
Track Name: Acid Teardrops
I'm stuck in my town
Nobody's around
Summer salt
Crying
Sweat drips down your spine
My summer salt
Shimmer into shape
And bacchanal
Summer salt

Nobody's around
Feeling kind of down
Coughing up a sigh
I'll do whatever you want me to

If I was afraid
I'm just glad you came
To swallow my mistakes
My summer salt
Somewhere in the room
I'll fall into you
Forever entombed
I'll do whatever you want me to
Track Name: Copake, NY
I'm holding my breath forever
I've given up trying to change
Always working nights and weekends
Spend my free time drinking with my friends
We're all just trying to stay awake
Living with the choices that we make
We're okay

I'm holding out for the future
But things will just be same
Waking up again from a good dream
Of your bedroom when I was eighteen
I think I saw it in your face
It's just a feeling I can not regain
I'm afraid

So if it doesn't get better
Well I can still hope the same
On a good night I can still feel it
Like a full moon
Like a speed hit
But now they're few and far between
We're moving pieces in a big machine
And we dream
